Seeing images of a Korean wedding, where the guests were largely dressed in Hanbok, was the start for me of a series of images from which I got my inspiration. The Netherlands had a rich history of traditional costumes as well, or rather regional costumes, but unfortunately these have almost completely disappeared.

The Netherlands had a rich history of traditional costumes as well, or rather regional costumes, but unfortunately these have almost completely disappeared.

When I started painting I had no idea about what I wanted to specialize in, because everything was new and a challenge. After several landscapes, animals and portraits I became fascinated by still-life paintings. All the different materials and textures intrigued me. After a while I was not just painting objects, but more focused on composition, colors and formats and started to develop my own style.
